After an exam or assignment, the first thing most students want to know is simple — what percentage did I get, and did I pass? The Marks Percentage Calculator gives you that answer immediately, and it goes a step further than a basic percentage tool. It comes with two modes: a Simple Calculator for when you just need a quick overall percentage, and a Subject-wise Calculator for when you want a full breakdown across individual subjects. Both modes display your percentage, assign a letter grade from A+ to F, and tell you your pass or fail status right away. Whether you are checking a single test score or working out your overall performance across an entire exam, this tool covers it cleanly and without any manual calculation.

Formula Used:

Percentage = (Marks Obtained ÷ Total Marks) × 100

In the Subject-wise mode, the same formula applies to each individual subject, and the overall percentage is calculated by dividing the total marks obtained across all subjects by the total maximum marks combined.

How to Use the Marks Percentage Calculator

The tool offers two separate modes depending on what you need:

Simple Calculator

  • Enter Your Scored Marks: Type in the total marks you obtained (for example, 450).
  • Enter the Maximum Marks: Enter the total marks the exam or assessment was out of (for example, 500).
  • Click Calculate Percentage: Your result appears instantly showing your percentage (90%), the corresponding letter grade (A+), and your pass or fail status.

Subject-wise Calculator

  • Add a Subject: Enter the subject name, the marks you scored in that subject, and the total marks it was out of. Click Add Subject to include it in the list.
  • Build Your Full Subject List: Repeat for every subject you want to include. Each one appears in the table with its individual percentage and grade calculated automatically.
  • View the Overall Result: Once all subjects are added, the overall percentage, combined marks, grade, and status update at the bottom to reflect your full academic performance across all entered subjects.
  • Manage Your Entries: Use the trash icon next to any subject to remove it, hit Reset All to start fresh, or click Save Results to store your current data in the browser for later reference.

Why Use the Marks Percentage Calculator Online?

  • Two Modes for Two Different Needs: The Simple Calculator is ideal when you just need a fast answer from a single score. The Subject-wise Calculator is built for situations where you need a proper subject-level breakdown — like calculating your overall board exam percentage or tracking performance across a full semester’s worth of courses.
  • Grade and Status Together: Rather than just showing a raw percentage, the tool immediately tells you the corresponding letter grade and whether you passed or failed. That combination of information in one place saves you the extra step of cross-referencing a grading scale on your own.
  • Color-Coded Results: Your percentage and grade are displayed with color coding that reflects your performance tier, making it easy to read your standing at a glance without having to interpret numbers alone.
  • Subject Table with Delete Option: In Subject-wise mode, every subject you add appears in a neat table that you can edit freely. Remove any entry that no longer applies without losing the rest of your data.
  • Saves to Browser: The Save Results feature stores your subject data locally in your browser, so you can come back to your entries later without having to re-enter everything from scratch.
  • Works for Any Exam Format: Whether you are calculating marks from a school exam, a college assessment, a competitive entrance test, or an assignment, the tool works the same way regardless of the marking scheme or total marks involved.
